GL Hearn’s Major Projects team is delighted to have secured planning permission on behalf of Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust for a new 150-bed mental health hospital. The £60m New Park House Development will be located at North Manchester General Hospital and provide 12,263sqm of new, fit for purpose inpatient accommodation. Full planning permission was granted ahead of programme, supporting the target delivery of the new facility by 2024.
The New Park House Development is the first step to facilitate the wider redevelopment and regeneration programme for North Manchester General Hospital. The project will deliver significantly enhanced facilities for the benefit to patients, staff, visitors, and the wider hospital campus, forming a key part of modernising of Mental Health provisions in Greater Manchester, a priority within the regional healthcare strategy.
Town Planning advice was led by Laura Meyer, Planning Director – Major Projects and Anna Blackwell, Senior Planner – Major Projects.

The purpose-built unit will provide a calm and safe environment, where people will receive holistic treatments and be encouraged to meet with carers, family, or friends to aid their recovery process should they choose to do so.
GMMH’s internal project team, supported by planning consultant GL Hearn, principal supply chain partner Integrated Health Projects and our wider design teams have worked closely over the last 12 months to develop proposals that will enhance the current on-site facilities and integrate into the future North Manchester General hospital site regeneration.
